Critical Analysis Of Rock .

Critical Analysis of Rock n’ Roll Deviance is behaving against social and cultural norms. Society normally behaves in a certain pattern which repeats within groups of people. These norms are considered way of living in a social circle which when violated and tried to live differently causes relative abnormality. This relative abnormality of not following a pattern adopted by the society is called deviance. Deviance is relative because normality could differ from person to person. One group of people may think normal to wear short dresses and bikinis in social gathering whereas this type of actions might be deviance to a group of fundamental Muslim social circle where wearing short dresses and transparent clothes is considered unethical. So what is normal to one group could be deviance to another. Difference in cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs and parenting methodology are the factors on larger scale which affects the concepts of relative abnormality. Rock n’ Roll music genre was effected largely by the concept of deviance. This music genre was criticized initially by public and critics. Rock n’ Roll discussed topic which were considered anti-Christian and there was a sense of revolt against society and states thought as anti-patriotic. People who listened to music had never experienced lyrical and compositional music such as Rock n’ Roll so it created deviance for people. It became one of the most influential and heard music genres of all time later on. It faced deviance as well as relativity of the concept flowing from unpopularity to popularity further clarifying how one thing might be a deviance at one time and convert to norm with evolution of human race and time. Rock music evolved with time. Each individual or band of artists kept adding more instruments and sounds to its predecessor. Musicians like Elvis Presley, Bill Haley...

Comparison And Contrast Between Rap Music And Progressive Rock.

Comparison and Contrast between rap music and progressive rock Rap and progressive rock genres commonly relate to the social problems such as oppressive social laws, human relationships, and drug abuse in the society but both tend to represent their viewpoints in unique and peculiar manners. Rap music promotes a culture of violence and aggressiveness in all aspects of the messages it conveys to the audience whereas progressive rock is more lyrical and poetic and introduces complex progressive and multi-instrumentalist tunes. Every next line in rap lyrics is independent of the previous versus because it does not follow any particular pattern in the song but the songs are necessarily built up on one single theme. These themes can be love, breakups and struggles in relationships, benefits or harms of drug abuse, or an overview of socially unacceptable laws. The rap lyrics are usually long comprising of lengthy stories and prolonged passages [Ncampbell (2011)]. In comparison to the rap music, progressive rock is much more complex and poetic. Every song follows a poetic and melodious pattern in its tune and lyrics contain literature-oriented language that has multi-perspectives to comprehend and one song can be related to multiple situations. The main theme of progressive rock is drugs, philosophy, and human relationships in a much generalized way as compared to rap music which is more specific in its elaboration and illustration [McLatchey, M. (2006)]. The progressive rock follows a completely different fashion apparel style from rap music in the form of long hairs and psychedelic clothing and appearances. The progressive rock can be more comprehensively understood by listening to complete albums because every next song is linked or somehow related to the previous songs. The idea of concept-albums as introduced by artists like Pink Floyd must be appreciated very openly in which all tracks...

Baroque Music.

Baroque Music Some of the major characteristics of Baroque music are that it has single melodic idea with continuous rhythmic drive and a single musical piece projects an expression of feeling. The composition that I listened to was Vivaldi’s “The four seasons”. It is Vivaldi’s best known work and one of the most popular pieces in Baroque music. What I liked most about this composition is the playing of the violin and how it arouses the emotions of its listeners. I loved the way the music represents the moods of the four seasons. Another song which I feel evokes a similar mode as Vivaldi’s “the four seasons “is Stravinsky’s “Violin concerto in D”. I find both these compositions very familiar. [Baroque (2015)] Baroque paintings: One of the paintings that I really like is the crowning with thorns. This painting is made by Caravaggio. He made this painting around 1607. The second painting that I really like is the elevation of the cross. This painting was made by Peter Paul Rubens and was completed in 1610 to 1611. The main characteristics of Baroque paintings are sensuality, strong emotional content and naturalism. These characteristic can clearly be seen in the work by Caravaggio and Peter Paul Rubens. I am a curious person and I am really inspired by the story of Jesus Christ that is why I chose the paintings, both of these paintings show his sufferings and the agony he went through. The crowning with thorns is placed in Kunsthistorisches museum in Austria and the elevation of the cross is located at the cathedral of our lady in Antwerp, Belgium. I like these paintings because of the way these paintings are made more prominent by bold contrasts of light and dark. This Baroque style could be compared to a film called...

Analysis Of Rap Music.

Analysis of Rap Music The rap music was introduced in the middle sixties and it mainly reflected upon the cultures and norms of the society with up-beat sounds. Initially, this music genre was most famous among black teenagers because most composers and vocalists in rap music were black people who started off with this music as a street art that expanded gradually to influence the audience on wider scale. Just like the progressive rock genre, rap music characterizes the issues of promoting the drug abuse in the community, love and struggle in relationships, and negation of social norms and laws as its main theme but the medium of communication is slightly contrasting from the progressive rock because rap artists use different poetic versus and fashion apparel from the progressive rock artists [NCampbellB (2011)]. A large number of artists are shown to be advertising various types of drugs in their music videos in most of their songs with casual clothing and free style poetic versus that adds to the impressive endorsement of the drugs. Lyrics in plenty of the rap songs envelop the drug abuse and render this wrongdoing as a socially acceptable trait. For example, the song “Drug Ballad by Eminem” tells the story of a man who is unconditionally intoxicated by the drugs and he feels amused in that state of intoxication. The writer repeatedly uses the phrases such as “These drugs really got a hold on me” in the track that motivates its listeners to enter into that drug state to properly feel the meaning of the song. The song also illustrates that the drugs are the best way of starting a party by using phrase such as, “This is how we used to get the party start” [Song Meaning (2015)]. The aggressive vocal style with casual clothing...

Analysis Of Rap Music (2).

Analysis of Rap Music Rap music influences its environment by its three core elements; lyrics, celebrity fashion apparel, and expressive body language. The lyrics of the most of the songs are aggressive with the main idea of community and domestic violence, rebellious attitude towards social norms, and oppression by political class [Giovacchini, M. A. (1999)]. Domestic violence can be attributed as a consequence to unsuccessful relationship attempt with opposite gender and rap lyrics influence the psychological state of mind of the individuals to take revenge from the factors that contributed in the failure to meet desired outcomes from a relationship or family circle. For example, ’25 to Life’ by Eminem is a complete story of how the girl has abandoned the wishes of the guy and encourages the male community to take revenge in response [Ryan, P. (2014)]. The song includes lyrics to boost hate for opposite sex in the community. The genre of rap music explains how the capitalist media, political leadership, and rich class of the community introduces legislative laws in the society that only serve their political and economic interests so it further takes up the rebellious attitudes against these capitalist viewpoints. The fashion apparel of the rap artists in public gatherings and music videos targets major poor class of the society, who believe that their desires are overrun by the communities, to indulge in criminal acts. This rap audience certainly lives in a sense of deprivation and low self-esteem which they try to cover up with so-called modern clothing and jewelry items expecting the society to respect them in this state of low self-esteem. Those who cannot gain self-respect by wearing loose baggies t-shirts and pants with fake gold teeth and tattoos turn to violence and drugs to make themselves feel comfortable. This violence can cause...
